This one is a band is a little bit close to heart, I heard about them a little not over 2 weeks ago. When i found out that they were playing a local event; JakCloth.
Personally, I’ve never heard of them before then. So i took the liberty of finding more information about the lads of Meet Me By Sunrise
The band consists of 4 guys;
- Lan(Vocals & Guitar, @LanAlexander)
- Dion (Guitars/Synths/Keys/Back-Up Vocals, @dionandrew )
- Christophe (Bass, Back-Up Vocals,)
- Diandra (Drums, @GA_diandra)
The band started when individual boys got together and placed 3rd in a competition and decided to get together as a band. The band got its name “Meet Me By Sunrise” when Lan went to play at a cafe in Bali called “The Sunrise”
Meet Me By Sunrise are currently working on their EP which will be out in our local stores by Fall 2011
Unlike local Indo bands, these guys are inspired by We the Kings, The Downtown Fiction and much more.
PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BAND
Alright here it is, my personal thoughts about the band.
At first, when i heard that theres a new ‘indo’ band, the first thing that came to my head was “fuck no, no more stupid indo bands” im so sick and tired of stupid and shitty indonesian bands getting big and open for big international bands. why? cause no one gives 2 shits about them and they sound like crap.
Then I listened to Meet Me By Sunrise. I swear, I think all hell broke loose. I LOVE THIS BAND. probably the first indo band that I totally love and appreciate. I mean hey they’re all still in their teens (19, 18, 17 and 15), Lan lived in the US for i think most of his life and the rest of the guys all go to international schools, giving them some sort of ENGLISH speaking backgrounds. so they can actually SPEAK english. which is bloody amazing.
That was my rant on how good they are at speaking english, now moving on to their music. Personally, MMBS is a band thats very easy-listening; meaning it doesn’t need a few good listen for you to actually like them. Thats what I like about them, they make their music very likable, if i didn’t tell you they’re an indo band, you wouldnt know. THATS how good they are. PLUS, they’ve got amazing stage performance. yes, i did watch them live at JakCloth.
I suggest everyone listen to this band and catch them live!
