INTERVIEW - A Lifelike Story

For fans of All Time Low, Mayday Parade and the Maine, A Lifelike Story is a hard working, self-funded pop-punk band from New Jersey. They have just finished a very successful unsigned band tour, we got a chance to interview lead singer Bryan Welsh.

Check it out here:

1. Hey guys, can we get your names, age and what you do in the band?

Bryan: Hey I am Bryan and I’m the 23 year old lead singer and guitarist.

2. For all the kids who have never heard of you, how would you

describe your style and music in 10 words?

B: A pop-rock band that expands beyond the normal pop mold

3. How did this band come together?

B: The original three person line up came together because we were all from the same town and went to the same high school.  We all had other projects and one day decided to get together and we clicked.  For our most recent tour we added a second guitarist that we found online actually.  It all just fell into place.

4. Do you have any aspirations for the band?

B: I think most every band’s goal is to be headlining huge festivals/tours and to be traveling around the world while making music.  And of course that is something we are working toward as well but we also want to be able to connect with our fans on a whole other level.  Fan interaction is a very important thing for us and as we grow as a band and new doors open that is the one thing that will never be left behind.  Lastly to grow as musicians; to be able to learn something new and apply it will only help us grow.

5. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever done?

B: I had these fans get a hold of my number once and one of them ended up stalking me for a short period of time.  Not on an overly psychotic level or anything but it was still pretty creepy.

6. The funniest thing a fan has ever said to you?

B: A fan once compared me to a stuffed dog.  They saw a video update that we had posted and at the time I had longer hair so in the video I lifted my hair up to make ears and barked like a dog.  At the next show they brought me a stuffed dog and compared me to it.  It was pretty awesome I must say.

7. If you had the chance to tour around the world with a band, who would it be and where would you go?

B: Every time we get this question I can never pick just one band because there have been a bushel that have been influences on me and I think it would be awesome to tour with any of them.  Some would include Panic! At the Disco, Butch Walker, Dashboard Confessional or All Time Low.  I’ve never been to Europe and we have had a good response with our EP over there so I think it would be awesome to be able to share our music with our fans on that side of the globe.

8. What’s your biggest pet peeve when you’re performing on stage?

B: Not too many things usually bother me while on stage.  I have a good time interacting with the fans and what not.  The one thing I guess that grinds my gears is when a venue makes me use their instead of my own and once we start playing their mic doesn’t work or the cord is faulty.

9. If you were a hobo, what would your cardboard sign say?

B: “We’re all just people”

10. Last but not least, we know that you guys have an album coming out, promote yourself.

B:We actually just released our acoustic EP ‘In the Right Light’ and our full band EP ‘Never Have I Ever’ is also out.  Both are available at every digital retailer worldwide.  We love to talk to our fans and interact so make sure you talk to us on our Facebook (facebook.com/alifelikestory) or follow us on Twitter (@alifelikestory).
