This lady has sold merch for He is We and The Hit, we got a chance to interview Lisa Marie Pinto from San Diego via E-mail.
Check out the interview here:
1. Hey Lisa, first of all, how old are you and what bands have you worked with?
Lisa: I’m 22 years old. I’ve merched with a bunch of local bands back home in SD doing small shows & recently in the past two years I’ve merched for The Hit and He Is We.
2. How old were you and how did you start merching?
Lisa: I was 18 years old. I started going to a lot of shows in my area and basically fell in love with the live music atmosphere. I had to some how be apart of it and I found out about merching and started helping out with local bands that would have a show every now and then.
3. Who was the first band you sold merch for?
Lisa: Goodnight Caulfield.
4. What is your biggest pet peeve when you’re on the road?
Not being able to always talk/see my family & of course not always being able to shower! Haha.
5. Scariest tour experience?
Lisa: On the Ka$h for Ku$h Tour we shared a bus with the Millionaires, I was selling merch for The Hit, and we were in a not so safe neighborhood and we heard gun shots outside the bus. It totally freaked me out. I refused to get out of the bus that night until the morning.
6. The funniest and craziest things people have said to you while on the job?
Lisa: The craziest thing someone has told me was on the Let’s Be Animals Tour. This chick was very intoxicated and missed He Is We because of traffic and offered to pay $300 for them to play acoustic for them & she literally had $300 in cash. It was nuts. Not sure what actually ended happening…I do remember them playing acoustic outside…I wonder if they got paid. Haha. The funniest… hmm, I feel like there are so many funny moments and things said I just can’t pick one!
7. Who would you like to tour with, why and where would you go?
Lisa: I’d love to tour with Paramore or Foxy Shazam. Both amazing bands. Both great on stage, especially Foxy Shazam. & where… hmm… UK Tour would be rad!
8. What is the hardest thing about being a girl on tour with a bunch of guys?
Lisa: Hardest thing about being a girl on tour is I feel like us girls really gotta prove ourselves to the guys. I was raised with older brothers so really I’m used to being around guys. But I guess if there aren’t any girls on tour its hard to have girl talk. But guy talk works too! :)
9. What is the best thing about touring with a band?
Lisa: Best thing about touring with band is falling asleep and waking up in a new city everyday & you become a family. Its amazing. I can’t wait to get back on the road!
10. Do you have any advice for the younger generations or anyone who wants to pursue you line of work?
Lisa: My advice would be just to be you & do it for all the right reasons. If you are passionate about the music industry and touring then go for it! Its a great opportunity and you meet so many amazing new people. Just stay focused, passionate and have fun.
