1. First of all, how old are you and what’s your role in Valora?
Syd: I am 22 years old, and I am the front woman of Valora.
2. When did you realize that you want to be a musician?
S: I knew I wanted to be a singer since the age of 5, but I picked up a guitar and learned how to play it in my early teens. I didn’t want to be dependent on anyone else in order to write music.
3. What did you think would happen when you first started thinking about being a musician?
S: I thought I would work really hard and accomplish great things in music, and that’s exactly how things are going.
4. Your biggest inspiration?
S: My hard-working, selfless parents have always been my biggest inspiration.
5. Favorite tour experience?
S: So far, my favorite tour experience is getting to play at the 48 Hours Festival in Las Vegas with rock and metal legends.
6. Fave city to play so far? And why?
S: My favorite city to play so far is Modesto, California. When we play there, we are welcomed by some of the most enthusiastic Valora fans.
7. The funniest thing that has happened to you on tour?
S: Two girls and four guys stuck in a van with each other for hours…I feel like when we’re not asleep, we’re laughing. It’s a great time on the road.
8. The weirdest fan request you’ve ever gotten?
S: There hasn’t been anything too weird…yet.
9. Okay, please tell us more about Valora comics.. What inspired you to start making them?
S: Ahmet Zappa inspired me to connect music with comics. Before meeting Ahmet, I was completely in the dark when it came to the concept of creating a graphic novel. He took me into Meltdown Comics in Hollywood, and opened my eyes to a colorful, action-packed world.
10. What’s the main idea of those comics generally?
S: The main idea of the Valora comics is that finding and keeping something or someone you love is a constant battle that never dies. Each time you conquer something that is trying to separate you from what you love, you gain strength and wisdom to conquer the next obstacle.
11. Have you ever thought about selling hard copies of the comics?
S: Yes, of course! I think it will be fun and exciting for fans to collect them all in physical form.
12. How did you feel when you know your song, No Matter What, was going to be on Miley Cyrus’ movie, The Last Song?
S: It was an incredible honor. I heard Miley herself chose the music for the soundtrack, so that made me feel pretty good. It was the most amazing experience to hear my own song playing as I watched a movie in the theater with my whole family. It was a proud moment.
13. Based on Valora’s twitter, you said that you’ll be releasing a new album on April 3, 2012. Can you tell us more about it?
S: I can’t wait to release this album! I’m so excited for everyone to experience the full journey “I Waited For You” will take you on.
14. Okay thank you so much for your time! Any last words for your fans or your soon-to-be-fans?
