RadioDriveBy are a pop-rock band from Tempe, Arizona. The band consists of vocalist Trent Clark, guitarist-Adam Simons, drummer-Austin Gavin, guitarist-Adam Glosser and bassist-Evan Yuen. They released a new EP this summer called “Nothin’ But Better” . We got a chance to interview Austin and Adam via. E-mail.
Listen to the album here:
Check out the interview here:
1. Can you tell us your name and what you do in the band?
Adam Simons: I’m Adam and I play guitar and sing backup vocals.
Austin Gavin: Austin and I play drums.
2. How and when did the band get together?
AG: I was in a band with a friend and one day my youth pastor asked our former guitarist if we would play with this kid Trent for a church event. We did and covered I Miss You by Blink-182 and from there on we knew we had something going on!
AS: I joined in November of 2010, so just about a year now. David just joined us this summer.
3. How long did it take to make your EP and how was the process?
AS: Well as for recording, I think we did about week in the studio with our friend Curtis Douglas. Some of the songs we tweaked a bit beforehand, and some like Shine, we basically re-wrote in the studio. For that song most of the band (besides Trent) hadn’t even heard the final vocal takes until we got the finished song back. It was really fun though! One of the best times we’ve had as a band has been recording.
AG: About six months is how long it took from being in the studio to photo shoots to rehearsing the songs and getting final mixes back. After getting all of that together and planning the release, we were done!
4. For people who have never heard of RadioDriveBy, describe yourself in 10 words.
AG: Trent, Clark, Austin, Gavin, Evan, Yuen, David, Glosser, Adam, Simons.
AS: Fun, Upbeat, Loud, Louder, Melodic, Catchy, Awkward, Bawlz, Cats, Meatloaf.
5. Why should people listen to you? What makes you guys different from the average band?
AS: I think what makes us different first of all is our sound. I don’t think we really sound like any other band, but I like that people can definitely hear our influences in our music. Second of all, I’d say our attitude and work ethic towards music. This is our life. We spend hours every day talking to fans, promoting our music and thinking of new ideas to help us live our dream. We know how hard you have to work to get anywhere in this industry, and we know that you won’t get there with an ego or an attitude that says “I’m better than you.” So we try to always stay humble, always talk to people at our shows, and never look down on other bands or musicians. We’re all in this together.
6. What are your aspirations for the band?
AS: Personally, I want to make music as a career. I’m in college studying business and music and learning how to book and plan concerts, but my biggest dream is to travel the world playing my guitar every night, for as many people as I can.
AG: Yup.
7. Who are your inspirations?
AG: Blink-182, Jimmy Eat World, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, our mommas, U2, ALICE COOPER, Kyle Narducci, and a lot more.
AS: John Mayer, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, Neil Young, Blink-182, The Starting Line and so many others!
8. What is your favourite song to play live? and why?
AS: I’d say Deny or DJ Got Us Falling In Love. I get to rock out on both these songs, and the guitar parts I play in DJ are really fun… and groovy.
AG: Deny. Because it’s fun and very different. I also just love the power and drive that song has.
9. What is your biggest pet peeve when you’re performing on stage?
AG: Not having enough water or sweating!
AS: When something goes wrong with my pedals, I break a string, or when Trent runs into me. Ha! Love U Trent.
10. If you could tour with any band in the world, who would it be and why?
AS: Blink 182. They’re all my heroes and I bet it’d be a blast to hang out with them at shows.
AG: U2 because they are epic.
11. fuck kill marry your band mates
AS: Oh dear! Umm…. I don’t want to f*** or kill any of them, so can we all just get married to each other?
AG: Next question! Ha ha.
12. Strangest/ weirdest thing a fan has ever said to you?
AS: Probably being asked to sign certain body parts, various animals, and sandwiches…
AG: “If you had to fuck, kill, or marry one of your band mates who would it be?” : )
13. If you’re a Disney villain, who would you be and why?
AG: ZURG from Toy Story.
AS: Voldemort. Wait, what was the question?
14. Funniest thing to happen to you on stage?
AS: a lot of funny stuff goes on, but I’d say the funniest (at least to me) was when we were playing with The Dangerous Summer at The Underground in Mesa, AZ and I ran and jumped up next to Austin on his drum riser and hit my head so hard on this really low ceiling above the drums. It hurt like hell and I don’t think anyone noticed, but looking back it was awkward and hilarious.
AG: I’d say when Trent fell on stage when we opened up Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie in front of 5,000 people Haha!
15. Last but not least, promote your self. :D
AS: Be sure to “Like” our page on Facebook where we update you guys all the time with news and info. Also, follow me on Twitter and Tumblr!

OTENKI are a pop/rock band from Houston, Texas formed in the Summer of 2004 by German Hernandez (vocals), Enoma Asowata (guitar/vocals), Fausto Padilla (lead guitar/vocals), Josh Tenorio (bass/vocals) and joined later on by Colton Majors (Keys/Programming) and Hector Tenorio (drums). Their new record KINETIC was produced by James Paul Wisner (Paramore, There For Tomorrow) and has garnered them attention from Billboard, Alternative Press and various music blog in the UK and France.
1. What are your names are and what you do in the band?
Enoma: Enoma and I play guitar.
Colton: Colton, Keytar
2. How and when did the band get together:
E: The band got together when Fausto met up and started going over song ideas back in 2004. We just pulled in friends and some musicians we knew from around town.
C: I called them together to aid in my quest to destroy the dragon
3. For people who have never heard of Otenki, how do you describe your style and music in 10 words?
E: Intense, Pop, Rock N’ Roll, Energetic, Passionate, Crazy, and Heartfelt.
C: Alternative, electro, heavy rock
4. What makes your different from the average band?
E: Despite what photos may have someone believe this band is at it’s core never worried about our image. We’re not a “hair product” band as someone recently made us out to be. Most of us came from punk rock/hardcore roots and our passion for music is best represented by our live performance. It’s very intense and I think that sets us apart from a lot of the other bands out there.
C: we have a keytar player
5. What is your favourite song to play live?
E: I love playing KINETIC live. That song means a lot to me because it’s about our fans and our families who are the reason we keep going. Though all the nonsense that comes with being in an unsigned band these days. Hearing back from our new and old fans about how much they love the new songs really gives us the drive to keep going and become a success for the people who love us.
C: Ghosts or Violence
6. Who are your inspirations?
E: Musically speaking, Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World, Joey and Christian from Anberlin, Jade Puget from AFI and Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters. In my personal life, I would say my parents. They have sacrificed so much for me to be able to play music.
C: Deadmau5, Skrillex, Dream Theater, Cradle of Filth, Tim McGraw, Kid Rock
7. What are your aspirations for the band?
E: I’d like for us to align ourselves with a team that had a strong vision for our success. I would like for us to be able to tour often for our fans and keep putting out records.
C: Conquer the World
8. What is the funniest thing a fan has ever done to get your attention?
E: We’ve had a fan make some really strange youtube videos for us or show up unexpected in random places. It’s always flattering because they love us but sometimes it’s a little strange.
C: Can’t Recall
9. What is the strangest/ weirdest thing a fan has ever said to you?
E: I won’t repeat it. it’s pretty vulgar haha.
C: Its inappropriate and shouldn’t be repeated
10. What is your biggest pet peeve when you’re performing on stage?
E: When Colton’s gear doesn’t work. It throws him off and I always want us all to feel really good about how we perform each and everytime.
C: German laying on the floor
11. If you were a Disney villain, who would it be and why?
E: Jafar, he was a badass and he was magic.
C: Chernabog from fantasia
12. If you could tour with any band in the world who would it be and where would you go?
E: I would love to tour with Taking Back Sunday and Anberlin. We would tour the US. If we were to go to Brazil I would want to go on tour with Paramore or All Time Low, I hear those shows are just insane!
C: Dream Theater, and we would play at Stonhenge
13. Funniest thing thats happened to you while performing?
E: Once while on tour I slipped on a puddle of water and completely fell flat on my back and kept playing. It was really funny.
C: Strap broke off during a “keytar Flip”(my signature trick) and flew into Enoma’s shin then across the stage.
14. Do you guys have any special ritual you do before you perform?
E: We all stretch and then yell at each other to hurry up and get on stage. That happens at EVERY show haha.
C: Not that we can tell.
15. Last but not least, promote yourselves :)
E: Our new record KINETIC is on iTunes now! Please check it out and head to our Facebook page (http://facebook.com/otenkirocks) to let us know what you think! Thank you!

Jeff Maker is very famous amongst All Time Low fans. Known as the master of lights, this man is a huge part of the ATL Crew. We can post a whole bunch of facts about jeff but it would defeat the point of the interview that we did with this amazing man. We got a chance to interview Jeff via E-mail.
Get to know about Jeff here:
1 How old are you and what bands have you worked with besides all time low?
Jeff: I am 30 years old. I have worked with:The Dresden Dolls, Yellowcard, The Click Five, Boys Like Girls, Flock of Seagulls, & Belinda Carlisle.
2 When did you start doing lighting designs? and what prompted this career choice?
J: I started doing lighting back in 2000. I wouldn’t have called myself a designer at that point though. I was still learning and I had a lot to learn. My very first lighting design ever was for The Click Five. Before that I was only a lighting director. I got into this career by accident actually. I started out as a booking agent for a local band in CT called “throne” (which is no longer a band). I noticed at their shows that nothing was being done with the lighting. So I got behind the lighting board and started pushing buttons. As years went by I developed a passion and desire to learn more. I moved to Boston for college and got a job as a bar back at a venue called The Paradise Rock Club. The lighting guy there heard I had done some lighting and he needed an intern. So he took me under his wing, trained me, and soon after that I was the lighting guy for my very own venue called Axis. I trained, developed my skill, learned design, practiced my timing with all kinds of music, and word of mouth got around about me and The Dresden Dolls took me out for my very first tour in 2006. After that it was pretty much a domino effect. More people heard about me, my resume grew, and I received more and more offers. And here I am today.
3 First band you were a lighting designer for?
J: The Dresden Dolls
4 Favorite/funniest tour memory?
J: Too many to pick just one. Every tour and every moment is special to me in their own ways.
5 What is your favorite song you’ve done lighting for and why? (can be for any band)
J: “Too Much” by All Time Low on the Glamour Kills Tour
6 If you could do lighting for any song from any band, what which song/band would it be?
J: Great question! I’d have to say “My Hero” by The Foo Fighters or “Closer” by NIN
7 Scariest tour experience?
J: Missing my flight to Hong Kong to meet up for pre-production for The Click Five’s south east Asia tour in May 2008. So embarrassing and I was scared I’d get fired. Luckily I didn’t get fired and it was an amazing tour.
8 What is the one thing you hate the most when you’re on tour?
J:Being away from my friends back home, being away from my dad, missing out on important events like weddings and birthdays. Sometimes not having anytime to yourself and long days can be tough. But even with those things, I love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for any other job in the world. 9 The weirdest thing you’ve experienced while on tour? (can be fan related or not) 10 What band(s) would you love to do lighting for? 11 If you weren’t a lighting designer, what would you want to be doing with your life? 12 A saying or motto which you feel best describes how you live your life? 13 Do you have a ritual you do before a show/tour? if so what is it? 14 Must have’s on tour? 15 Weirdest gift you have ever received on tour? 16 One of your biggest inspirations? and why are they an inspiration to you? 17 any advice for people interested in your field of expertise? (the cold hard truth) FAN QUESTIONS:
J: Going to Tasmania. It just felt weird being there. I can’t explain it.
J: Foo Fighters, NIN, Smashing Pumpkins (back in the late 90s), Sting, and Michael Jackson (may he rest in peace)
J: Hollywood actor or TV producer or a Cardiologist
J: “I don’t wanna be a product of my environment. I want my environment to be a product of ME.”
J: Before tour I put together my lighting designs and work with lighting companies to make sure my vision is brought to life the way I want it to. Before each show, like right before the set, I make my notes on the set list next to each song and tell the guys to “have a great set”. Then I test all my fixtures to make sure they are all responding correctly and then I loosen up my fingers, wrists, and hands.
J: Tools, Febreze, my own pillow for my bunk, cell phone, ipod, sharpies, board tape, and of course lots of work clothes
J: I don’t receive many gifts, and the ones I am lucky enough to get are very cool gifts. Can’t say I’ve ever gotten a “weird” gift before.
J: Other lighting designers that are at a level in their career that I’d love to reach someday. Blink 182’s LD, Blackeyd Peas LD, & Radiohead’s LD are three inspirations for me. They help to motivate me to TRY to be as good or better so that when I get to their level I can make my mark and solidify my reputation as a lighting designer.
J: It takes time to get to a touring level. You need to pay your dues, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and earn respect from your peers. Even if you think you know everything, you don’t. I still learn things to this day and I’ve been doing this for 11 years. If you give up early you won’t make it. If you stick with it, make the right connects, get good at what you do, and most importantly LOVE what you do, you WILL make it. My parents used to tell me I was wasting my time with the music industry, and now I’m living my dream and loving every single second of it. But don’t get me wrong, my parents are extremely proud of me.
Whats the best/worst part about being “Jeff Maker” the lighting designer?
J: Such a strange question…the best part is being able to do what I’ve always wanted to do and be successful at it. The worst part is not being able to see my friends and family back home as much as I’d like.
How does it feel being able to work with huge bands like All time low?
J: Feels amazing! Great guys, great crew, great music. Truly a great group of people I’ve ever had the pleasure of touring with and I hope to tour with them for the rest of their career if they’ll have me.
Did you got to college/school to gain your specific lighting abilities for stages, if so which college/school?
J: No. I am pretty much all self taught as well as trained by two other lighting designers. I DID however take a class at Emerson College for theater lighting design so that I could expand my design ideas and techniques and attempt to apply them to live concerts when appropriate
(questions from prettyjustpart)
All time low are going to the Philippines on sept 22nd, i was wondering whether you’ll b coming with them?
J: Yes I will be there!
If you are what are you looking forward to in the Philippines?
J: I’ve been there before in 2008 with The Click Five. I love it there! Looking forward to going back.
Whats your favorite part of touring?
J: Getting to see the world for free and do what I love to do for a living.
On a scale from 1-10 how awesome is it touring with all time low?
J: 10

J: 10

Releasing their new EP in October, Meet Me By Sunrise has gone a long way since they started in 2009. US born frontman, Lan Alexander, stated that the band started when 4 boys got together and won 3rd place in a competition and decided that they’re good enough to start a band of their own. The band got their name when singer, Lan, went to play at a cafe in Bali called “The Sunrise”.
The band consists of lead singer, Lan Alexander also on guitar, Dion Andrew on guitar, synth, keys and back-up vocals, Christophe on bass and back up vocals, last but not least Diandra on drums. This Indonesian based pop-rock band is inspired by international acts such as We the Kings and Mayday Parade. We got a chance to interview Lan and Dion via email separately.
Check it out here:
1. Please tell us your name and what you do in the band?
Lan: my name is Lan and i sing and play guitar for the band meet me by sunrise
Dion: I’m dion, i’m 19, i’m the oldest member of the band and i play guitar, synths/keys, and the chinese fiddle on some occasion
2. For people who don’t know who you guys are, in 5 words how would you describe MMBS?
L: Awesome, party, sex, surreal, stupid
D: Uh, well, i ain’t sure
3. Do you guys have a name for your new EP which will be released on the 7th of October?
L: EP’s self titled, we couldn’t think of a real title and that’s how stupid we are
D: No its gonna be a self-titled EP cos our band name is already sexy enough for the EP tee-hee
4. What can we expect from the new EP?
L: Good, fun, catchy pop-rock stuff we’ve always wanted to put out as musicians
D: Basically easy-listening pop punk tunes with some simple, easy to remember lyrics
5. We heard there’s gonna be a special appearance by other musicians, how stoked are/ were you to work with them?
L: To have Rudye featuring in our ballad track “Frankly My Dear” is totally amazing, he sings a verse so the song gets better when he’s there but when it comes back to my shitty voice, the song goes downhill haha and of course, Rendy Hendrawan is a brilliant songwriter and one of the best one that’s still under the radar
6. We also heard that you guys are having this huge release party, where and when is this taking place and who will be there partying with you guys?
L: SCORE! Cilandak town square this october 8th, BE THERE! it takes place around 3 - 7pm and we have bands like NOW and Leikha to join us and not to mention our friends from Singapore ‘Autumn Atlantic’
D: Yes we are! its going to be around October!! please tell your friends and pleaassee doo come :) a couple of our friends/bands are also playing such as Leikha, Autumn Atlantic and many more!!!
7. What’s your fave song from this EP? And why?
L: My favorite song from the EP would be… Stars? cause it’s a fun pop song that is about our current miss Indo, i wrote this for her as a birthday gift and it ended up being a song off our EP.
D: Jakarta, why?, its the easiest song to play
8. on scale 1 out of 10, how excited are you for this new EP?
L: I guess 10.5, we never put out anything before - so yeah i’m pretty excited.
D: 8 since this is question number 8 wheee 8 ftw!
9. Any message for those people who already called themselves MMBS’ fans?
L:thank you so much for sticking around ever since this started, i was just a kid who writes cheesy love songs in my room 2 years ago (still am actually) but then without any support, we couldn’t have made this happen. thanks so much
D: You guys ain’t our fans, you guys are our friends

My Chemical Romance have let fans know that they had fired their drummer, Mike Pedicone, from the band this past week for stealing funds from the band; the band’s statement can be read HERE. But Pedicone has now released a statement regarding the firing. Read his full statement below:
To the media, my colleagues in the music industry, and, most importantly, the fans of My Chemical Romance.
As many of you have heard by now, on Thursday evening I was let go as the touring drummer for MCR. The ensuing hours have been difficult for many reasons, but particularly because the actions that led to my dismissal have been twisted and misinterpreted via rumour mongering on the internet. With this, I’d like to put the rumours to rest.
Almost as soon as I began touring with MCR I ran into problems with a member of the band’s crew who I’ll not name. The problems were many, big and small, but some of them were large enough that they began to greatly impact me and, by extension, my family. I’d reached my wits’ end, and I made what was certainly the poorest decision of my life. Rather than address the issues that I had with the crew member in an open and honest manner, I tried to make them look irresponsible. My intention was to make this person look incompetent. I had no intention of profiting whatsoever. Again, I cannot overstate how poor my judgment was in this situation; it was a tremendous mistake, and it’s one I’ll regret for years to come.
I would have liked an opportunity to share my side of the story with MCR, an opportunity to express my remorse. I was never given one.
I’d like to thank MCR’s members, crew, and supporters for giving me some of the best musical experiences of my life in the past several months. However brief our partnership, it was an honour and a dream come true to play with such a talented bunch of individuals. I wish MCR the best of luck in the future, and I’m looking forward to my next endeavour.
Now, Jarrod Alexander (ex-Death By Stereo, The Suicide File) is filling in on drums for My Chemical Romance.
