You Me At Six are a pop-punk, post-hardcore, alternative rock band. Formed in 2005 in Surrey the band consists of Josh James Alphonse Franceschi (Lead vocalist), Max Michael Helyer (Rhythm guitarist/Vocalist), Christopher James Miller (Lead guitarist), Matthew James Barnes (Bassist) and Daniel David Flint (Drummer/Percussionist). They are currently signed to Virgin Records and have released a total of 3 albums: Take off your colors (Slam Dunk Records - on the 6th of October 2008), Hold me down (Virgin Records – on the 11th of January 2010) and Sinners never sleep (Virgin Records - on the 3rd of October 2011).
This year has been a busy one for the boys of YMAS, filled with collaborations outside of their latest album as well as within it. They’ve released 2 new music videos this year: Rescue me with featured Chiddy Bang and Loverboy their first single off Sinners Never Sleep. To say that these boys have grown since their take off your color days would be a fitting assumption, all of us here at KidsInDoubt thought that it would be a great idea to do a review of their latest album, we love it so I’m going to tell you why:
Let me begin by saying that Sinners Never Sleep is hands down one of my all time favorites. Previous feelings towards their albums are nothing in comparison to the love I feel for this one, not to say the others weren’t amazing, but I have to say the boys of YMAS have outdone themselves with this one.
In an interview done by The Ark Preston the boys of YMAS said that when it came to deciding the name of their album “Sinners Never Sleep” they chose that specifically because to them they were confessing their sins, their openness on the album was more so and they felt as a band that lyrically they were being more honest. It was also said that they took a lot of time working on the record so its safe to say that the name is a reflection of the songs within it and the hard work the boys put into it.
The album has got to be the most varied yet in terms of their song ranges, going from heavy to laid back rock, musically it’s clear that they’ve become darker but I can’t say that I dislike this turn to the “heavier” rock side.
Lyrically the band has quite clearly proven that they’re not one for spewing meaningless and pointless bullshit. Having said that Franceschi backs up their words vocally with conviction and emotion so powerful you can help but FEEL their songs and it’s not just his sound that’s coming through it’s the whole package. No, their songs aren’t lyrically genius, but that’s just fine! YMAS are proof that songs don’t need to be poetically perfect, they can be blunt and just as effective.
The album is proof of the different directions the band are more than capable of going. A clear indication if any that YMAS are the real deal and their not going anywhere but up. These boys are the whole package; listeners can relate to their words and rock out to their amazing sound, what more could we possibly want?
The first single released from the album and ironically enough the only song the band confessed that didn’t mean anything. Its sole purpose was to lure people into the record with something that had the essence of YMAS said front man Franceschi, which just as ironically it did. If you readers and listeners are anything like all of us here at KidsInDoubt then you know just how excited we were when we heard this number. The song was a little taste of the Franceschi’s more aggressive vocal turn, it left you wanting more, needing more, begging for more. Its safe to say it did just what the band wanted it to do.
Jaws On The Floor
A continuation from the previous track in terms of its pace displaying the talent of the whole band musically backed up with lyrics given with attitude you cant help but love. Not only that but the words are a mixture of taunting and teasing, leaving us grinning and nodding in agreements with lines like “when you’re done maybe try a little listening” and “life’s a bitch, but I’m friends with her sister” don’t deny it, we can all relate.
Bite My Tongue Ft Oliver Sykes (of Bring Me The Horizon)
A collaboration we’ve all been waiting for! Lets be honest ever since the two began singing with each other live on tour you’ve been curious as to whether they’d make a track together. It seems that they’ve finally answered all our prayers and done the deed, finally. I can’t help but say its about bloody time, the track itself shows us a josh who’s darker and angrier than we’ve ever heard, with lines like “you wanna drag me down some more, fuck you.” It’s also the rawest of tracks because of the simple fact that it’s Franceschi telling all us listeners that YMAS do struggle, personally I feel its quite a relief that he’s written it and they’ve made it. Just goes to show their human, they fight, but at the end of the day they made it through all the bullshit.
A more calming but sad sound after the harsher tone of Bite My Tongue, a song about first loves, regrets and bitter lessons learned. Sung with a soothingly honest voice Franceschi and the rest of the boys manage to evoke emotions from listeners and create a bond between their experiences and just about anyone else in the world whose lost their first loves.
No One Does It Better *personal favorite
A heartfelt ballad with just the right amount of earnest and honest emotions. Like many others on their album it provides listeners with raw emotions and feelings I’m pretty sure plenty of people can relate to, it’s the type of song we’ve all been waiting for. Unlike their previous albums it shows us a whole other side we haven’t seen. “I woke up this morning with a grudge the size of your story which now I have told you all” a line which pretty much sums up to us just how open they’re being this time around. Not only is it beautifully sung but the soothing sound just adds to the amazing-ness of the song itself. The song is further evidence of the bands growth lyrically, musically and as a band.
“This is me talking to the dude upstairs and telling him we’re not getting along right now.”-Franceschi, a clear indication from lead vocalist himself of the struggles the band went through during the creation of their latest album. The song itself screams frustrations and sadness, if listeners are anything like me then you’ll know just how strongly emotions were felt when hearing the track. The fact that they’ve been able to create this and share it with us goes to show just how strong and open YMAS have become. Lines like “take me home, please take me home, take me somewhere I want to go” speak to us and show us that their human and that fights are inevitable within friendships, not only that but its pleading tone evokes sympathy and understanding.
Crash
Said to be the “firework” of the album by YMAS and another ballad continuing from no one does it better. Lyrically it’s soppy and sweet; a song made for people to relate to about relationships and love. Also its set handsomely with soothing strings and calming tunes that adds to the magic of the song as a whole.
Reckless
Originally called “Don’t hold you breath” then “The best you’ve never had” and finally it was settled as “Reckless”, interesting because each tells us more about the direction the band have gone. Paired with a playful sound it banters with listeners and again shows us a different side to the boys musically. Lines like “good luck with killing time, you wont be killing mine” clearly tells us that the band are going places and they’re not about to let anything stand in their way.
Time Is Money Ft Winston McCall (of Parkway Drive)
Most obviously the heaviest song on the album, harsh and to the point lyrically and hard and heavy musically. Vocally it comes as no surprise that it sounds darker, with singer McCall it was bound to happen, to add to that Franceschi and McCall’s voices though different go together really well. Though YMAS’s singer does get vocally aggressive it adds to the fact that the song works. Honestly what more is there to say than they’ve pulled it off quite swimmingly, that is their move towards a rockier sound.
Little Bit Of Truth
“I want to write a song that makes you smile” – mission accomplished if the song were addressed to all the thousands of YMAS fans, you sure as hell made me smile. Yet another example of the soft and soothing side to YMAS, it seems they never fail to show us that they go through everything we do. The fact that we all can relate to this just makes the song all the more likable. Lets be honest it’s a beautiful song, a mixture of honest words (as said so many times before) and amazing sound to go with it.
The Dilemma
Franceschi says that the song was inspired by when he was single and had 3 girls on the go at the same time; he then went onto suggesting it needed a burlesque video to go with it. The song itself is quite teasing and taunting lyrically and musically, showing a more playful Franceschi. A clear message to all you girls out there, this is not a stupid boy. So love the person, not their career and image.
Ok so from the rest of the reviews you can tell that I’m completely and utterly in love with the album, but if I have any critiques to make it would have to be about this song. Don’t get me wrong the song isn’t awful or complete and utter shite, but whilst listening to it I can’t help but feel like I’m waiting for somethingto happen. The lack of build up makes me feel as if the song isn’t finished and the fact that they chose to end it with it just adds to this nagging feeling. Yes it does build slightly towards the end with Franceschi’s rise vocally but it wasn’t as dramatic as I would have liked it to be. Having said all that if there’s one thing I do like about it, it’s the lyrics. They’re so honest you just can’t help but feel drawn to them, you can’t help but listen more closely. Not to completely shut down on its musical sound, I’d have to say it is beautifully played, I just wish there had been more range within it.
So that’s about all I’ve got to say, a lot. I know. All of you who bothered to read this and all of you who agree with it should now go and show some more well deserved love to all the boys of You Me At Six. I’d like to end the review saying thank you to Chris, Dan, Josh, Matt and Max! Thank you for sticking together as a band and thank you so so SO much for sharing your music with us. You’re all amazing no matter what the haters say!
Oh and to all you fans who are complaining mindlessly and quite frankly stupidly about how you don’t like the new directions they’ve decided to go, suck it up. They were bound to grow, to mature both musically and as people. Whether you decide to stop complaining about it and support them like you rightfully should is all up to you.

Doin’ Alright
Hey whats your name, whats your story
I’ve been watching you all night
And I’ve been ashamed….yeah
But don’t you worry I’ve been catchin your eyes with mine
Let’s get away, forget tomorrow
And just cast our cares aside
And as today becomes tonight
I hope you’re ready, ready for this ride
Chorus:
Cause it’s a race against the clock tonight
But it don’t stand a chance, cause we’re stoppin’ time
We never felt more alive
Oh, we’re rockin’ this momentum goin’ ten fold
We’re doin’ alright
We’re doin’ alright, yeah
Just so you know
There’s no guessin’ on just where we could end up
Let’s next the phones
Cut off from everyone
I’m with you and that’s enough
Let’s make it rain
I’ve got no money but this credit card works fine
And as today
Becomes tonight I hope you’re ready, ready for this ri-i-ide

Paramore have revealed they will be releasing three new songs throughout the rest of the year, through their “Singles Club” release platform, exclusive to their website. Read a full announcement below.
For months now, we’ve promised that we’d be releasing some new songs before the end of the year. Well, here is where we finally make good on all of that. We are very happy to announce the Paramore Singles Club that will be happening throughout the rest of the year. This club is our way of getting these songs directly to the Paramore family. The only place you will be able to get them is on Paramore.net so think of these songs as our little secret to you.
As most of you already know, when we went into the studio at the beginning of the year to record “Monster” we also recorded a few other songs. By now, you might’ve heard an acoustic version of “In The Mourning” on the YouTubez and you might’ve caught a clip of “Renegade” at the beginning of our “From The Field” Warped Tour webisodes or live at the FBR15 show in NYC. There is one, however, that should be completely brand-spankin’ new to all of you and that one, dear friends, is entitled “Hello Cold World”.
If you join, you will get a download of one of the songs every couple of weeks and at the end of it, we’ll send you a limited edition 7” box set. We’re only making 3,500 of these sets which include four 7” records - one for each of the new songs plus “Monster”. We’ll have more details for you about the artwork and packaging as soon as it’s totally finished.
We really wanted to do something special for all of you around the holidays to thank you for making 2011 so amazing and sticking with us as we go into 2012 and start working on the new album. So, without making this any longer than it already is, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for believing in us.

The Maine have announced headlining dates for this fall to support their upcoming album, Pioneer. Tickets will be on sale this Saturday. Check out the tour poster below for dates.

The Maine’s new album will be called Pioneer. The album was recorded with producer Colby Wedgeworth at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, Texas. It’s due to be released in late November or early December. Read John O’Callaghan thoughts about the new album below.
As far as the songs are concerned, I’m really excited about how they turned out. I don’t think it’s what people are expecting to hear from us. For us as artists, I think it’s an imperative record to put out. We need to take it to where we took it right now in order to open up doors in the future for us, as far as our sound is concerned. It’s a lot more rock ’n’ roll driven. There’s still some twang in there as far as American country or American pop goes. We tried to make a balanced record. We didn’t try to overload it with a bunch of in-your-face rock songs about whatever, you know, depressing stuff or dark stuff. There’s fun tracks in there. It’s so hard to put it into words. I’m really excited for people to hear it. I’m really anxious to see how they feel about it and anxious to hear what they think. Most importantly, this record’s for us and for those fans that have kind of stuck by our side, no matter what our songs sound like and no matter what style we kind of jump into.

The Ready Set is going to release his new EP called “Feel Good Now” and you’re all invited to the record party in Los Angeles. Check the picture below for more info.

Daniel is known to be the Director of Strike Hard Bookings based in Australia. Having been on tour starting at a young age, we got a chance to talk to him about his experiences.
Check it out here:
First of all Daniel, can you tell us how old you are what bands have you worked with?
I am 24 years of age – I have worked with a lot of different bands, some include Unearth, Black Dahlia Murder, Shai Hulud, Haste The Day, Emmure
How old were you when you started touring?
19
Who was the first band you worked with?
A small local band from my area called Kohere
What is the biggest pet peeve when you’re on the road?
I would have to say hearing people eating or drinking or people messing the van (which happens every time)
Scariest tour experience?
I was on the Shai Hulud tour last year and we had played a show then drove 14 hours over night to play two more shows the following day. After the first show that day we were driving to the next venue which was literally 2minutes away. On the way to the venue our driver decided to try and turn right while there was traffic coming towards him. A car crashed into our van, it wasn’t a bad crash but we got whiplash and I hurt my leg. The van was undriveable and I spent the rest of the night and following day trying to find a replacement vehicle for the rest of the tour.
What’s the funniest and weirdest thing that has happened while you’re on tour?
I recently toured Asia with For The Fallen Dreams and Shinto Katana, all the countries we went to were amazing! Just the experience of touring another country had some weird/funny moments. We went to a few towns that did not see many foreigners and would be constantly asked to have a photo with a local or get an autograph and these people had no idea who we even were!
Who would you like to go on tour with and where would you go?
Blink 182 – I would go anywhere with that band!
If a girl would go up and talk to you, how hard or easy would it be to ask you on a date?
All depends on the person really; if there is a connection then I will be asking for the date!!
What else do you do besides tour managing?
I run a promotion /booking agency - book tours, book bands. A lot of my life revolves around music
Do you have any advice for the younger generations or anyone who would want to manage tours for a living??
Make friends with local bands, ask them to help out. It is always about starting small and working your way up. Ask people who do what you want to do for advice and speak to people in the industry – NETWORK!

Alright, now we have questions for the amazing Chomp Chomp Attack! We haven’t had a Canadian band on our site yet, so lets make this amazing!
Hey guys, can we get your names, age and what you do in the band?
So; there’s Mike Silentts, just turned 21 who is the lead vocalist of the band. Gabe Gallows who’s 20 years old, guitarist and backup vocalist. Omer Valentine our lead guitarist and backing vocals. Then there’s Dustin Heroin, youngest of the band at 19 years old, bassist and backup vocalist. Lastly, there’s Julien Masterpiece, 22 years old and plays drums for Chomp Chomp Attack!
For all the kids who have never heard of you, how would you describe your style and music in 4 words?
Meaningful, Edgy, Emotional, but still fun.
How did this band come together?
The band started just a year ago now, when Gabe and Omer decided they wanted a side project from their original band Buried By Tomorrow. They got together and spoke about ideas of a music genre for a while until they started talking to their newly acquired friend Mike from the band A Hopeless Lie. We ended up talking and deciding on a style and that since we loved playing shows together we’d very much enjoy actually playing all in one band as opposed to both our other bands playing a show together. We brought in Dustin from A Hopeless Lie as well, and went through various drummers before we finally landed on Julien, who has been the perfect fit so far. Since then everything’s just been going really smooth and we couldn’t be happier with the members and the music.
What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever done?
The weirdest thing so far would probably have to be the fan who asked Mike if she could have a french fry, he gave her the bag of fries, and she finished them and later on asked him to sign the greasy french fry bag. We thought that was pretty odd, but we just laughed it off and gladly signed it!
The funniest thing a fan has ever said to you?
Funniest thing would probably be what they didn’t say. A fan once approached us for an autograph and kind of just stared at us for about 3 minutes holding a marker. We eventually got the hint, signed his t-shirt, and he awkwardly hugged us all, not saying a word the entire time. He was really tall and awkward, but hopefully we’ll see him again and get to know him this time, he’s probably a great kid!
If you had the chance to tour around the world with a band, who would it be and where would you go?
There are so many bands we’d love to tour with, it’s so hard to choose just one. A few that we’d like to tour with would be Get Scared, Black Veil Brides, Modern Day Escape, Escape The Fate, Avenged Sevenfold, Falling In Reverse, Vampires Everywhere, and lots more. As for where we would go, hopefully world tour. Few cool spots to play would be Fiji, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, California, Las Vegas, and more! But, I’m hoping for one of the more tropical ones mentioned!
What’s your biggest pet peeve when you’re performing on stage?
Well, it’s happened where little things go wrong but that’s never a big deal, I guess the worst would be when for example, Gabe tripped on one of the bands stage boxes which wasn’t properly set up and built, fell on his guitar and snapped all the strings. Luckily we always have extra equipment. But major things like that are definitely the worst.
If you were a hobo, what would your cardboard sign say?
Something we once saw in our hometown: “Need money for chainsaw and/or shotgun. The Zombies are coming”
What are your aspirations for the band?
Our main goal is to just tour as many places as possible for as long as possible. We wanna meet every single fan we have ever made and play in front of as many different people as possible and get a chance to hang out with everyone and see new places at the same time.
Last but not least, we know that you guys have an album coming out, promote yourself
We’ve been facing some difficulties with our producer lately, which has put a halt on the album’s release date. But we’re hoping for it to come out this fall! The name is not announced yet. We’re doing our best to make sure we don’t disappoint anyone at all, because without them we’d be meaningless.

Shinto Katana - is a metal band from Sydney, Australia. The band consists of vocalist Dave Naylor, guitarist Joel Moon and Jimi Macgregor, bassist Mitch Posadas and Michael “tronskonski” Evans on drums. Dave was kind enough to answer some questions for us.
Check it out here:
First of all, please tell us your name and what you do in the band.
Dave: I’m Dave and I do vocals for the band.
For people who have never heard of Shinto Katana, what are you guys all about?
D: We’re all about raw energy. Trying to bring the biggest sounds and one of the funnest live shows to the table constantly. We get a kick out of a room full of people going crazy.
For new listeners, what can we expect to hear from you guys?
D: Heavy guitar tones, aggressive vocals and upbeat anthems with a darker melodic twist. Our newer approach sees us leaning more towards the melodic/catchy side of things.
How and when did the band get together?
D: Band formed in 2005. We were basically just a bunch of friends who’d known each other for years and wanted to do something we all enjoyed.
Why should people listen to you guys, what makes you different than the average band?
D: Our differing personal influences makes us a lot quirkier than you’d think. In a sea full of bands doing the same thing over and over, I honestly believe we bring our own sound and style to the table. New album will show that a lot. We bring the heaviest and most aggressive songs to the party and then inject them with as much emotion and meaning as we possibly can.
How happy are you with where you are now?
D: To be honest I feel as though we’ve been floating around the same place for a while, and I think we’re ready to take it to the next level. I love that we can play shows to kids so far from home and have people sing along and go crazy.. But we’re hungry for more.
You guys recently did an asian tour, what are the top 3 memorable events from each city that you guys played in?
D: This tour has seen us visit an entire new world away from what we’re used to. I love the different cultures and the attitudes of the people who are literally meeting us for the first time. To name one memorable moment from each city would down-sell the amount of memorable events I’ve witnessed on this tour. I think I can honestly only say that the people we’ve met have made this one of the most memorable tours we’ve ever had. Including For The Fallen Dreams. Great dudes.
What is your favourite song to play live and why?
D: Ghost. It’s new, it’s fresh and it’s the perfect example of where we’re headed.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you while on stage?
D: The funniest? Believe me, there’s a few. I’ve literally fallen off the stage onto my face, vomited into my own hands, had my pants pulled down by friends. I think the funniest thing would be, once, a 50 year old woman dragged me off stage and made me her bitch. Fully pumped me with her lips.
What is the funnies/weirdest thing a fan has ever said to you?
D: One girl asked if she could kiss my chest once.. That freaked me out.
What is your biggest pet peeve when you’re performing on stage?
D: Usually I get upset if my monitors aren’t working, but other than that, I’m pretty chilled. Hardcore shows bring a lot to the table. If you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen, etc.
Kill one, marry one, fuck one your band mates.
D: Kill Jimi because he makes an irritating sound when he tastes things, Marry Tron because the marriage would probably last, Fuck Joelzy because he resembles a girl more than the other dudes.
If you were a Disney villain, who would you be and why?
D: The Big Bad Wolf from The Three Little Pigs.. Bacon rules.
If you could tour the world with any band, who would you go on tour with and where would you go?
D: I would tour with the Deftones. I would go everywhere with them.
Last but not least, promote yourself.
D: Make sure you keep your ears and eyes peeled for the new album dropping early 2012. It will be our best work yet!
